Reading Christmas market launches bid to sell alcohol

A popular Christmas market in Reading town centre has applied to sell alcohol from its stalls this festive season.

Each Christmas, Broad Street comes alive with stalls selling German sausages and seasonal sweets and treats served by Peaks Catering Ltd.

This year, the company owner Jo Peak has applied to sell alcohol from the stalls.

She said: “We’ll have an alcohol offering this year in Broad Street, that’s the reason for the application.

“It’s so we can sell mulled wine and beer from the stalls.”

In full, Peaks Catering has applied to sell alcohol from 10am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 10pm on Sundays.

It has also applied for the provision of ‘regulated entertainment’ for the same periods of time as above.

Peaks Catering is based in Surrey and also runs burger and hot dog vans for events and temporary pick & mix sweet sales.
